about bistro fernand

Our story

Bistro Fernand is a tribute to the founder’s grandfather, Audrey Poirier, and to the rich working-class history of Beauharnois between 1900 and 1950. Fernand, originally from a small village in Ontario, moved to Beauharnois to work at Alcan from 1950 to 1985. Passionate about cooking and conviviality, he built a snack bar, “LA PATATE CHEZ FERN,” and cultivated a huge garden, generously sharing the harvest. Inspired by his love of cooking and his generosity, Bistro Fernand was created thanks to his heritage to offer a warm and authentic experience to our customers.

Bistro Fernand — Where every meal has a story

Located in the heart of Beauharnois, Bistro Fernand is much more than just a restaurant: it’s a place of memories, shared meals, and a love of food. Inspired by Fernand, our founder Audrey’s grandfather, our bistro pays tribute to a warm man, deeply rooted in his community, known for his snack bar “La Patate chez Fern” and his large garden where everyone would gather.

Today, his spirit lives on through our urban decor, our relaxed atmosphere, and our welcoming team.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel the warmth that makes Bistro Fernand one of the best restaurants in Beauharnois.

Our hearty, comforting, home-style cuisine is prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Each dish pays homage to Fernand’s legacy, combining tradition, conviviality, and a touch of modernity. Whether it’s for a romantic dinner, a celebration with friends, or a special occasion, everything is designed to make you feel at home.

Add to that attentive service, a unique atmosphere, and flavors that delight both the heart and the palate… and you have the perfect place to create memories over a delicious meal.
